In Between Spaces II

Oil on Canvas 90 x60 cm 2024. Creative process. In this painting, I continue exploring the relationship between identity, memory and the spaces we inhabit. I work between observed forms and imagined environments, allowing architectural structures and human presences to exist in an uncertain space between reality and abstraction. I develop the composition through layers of oil paint, colour and texture. Some forms become more defined, while others remain ambiguous, creating a tension between presence and absence. The figures seem close to one another, yet the surrounding architecture also suggests distance and separation. The work connects with my interest in belonging, displacement and transformation. I am drawn to the feeling of living between places, memories and identities, connected to different worlds without always feeling that I belong entirely to one. Through painting, I seek to give visual form to these emotional spaces and invite viewers to reflect on the places they carry within themselves.
